Mieke Jonker, born in Vaassen in 1963 and residing in Gennep NL began her artistic journey as a goldsmith at Vakschool Schoonhoven from 1999 to 2003.

After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Arendonk, specializing in portrait/model in 2013 and earning a Specialisation degree in 2016, Mieke transitioned to focus solely on painting.

Her artwork comprises multiple transparent layers of oil paint, emphasizing strong composition, color contrasts, and thick/thin paint applications to create a serene yet vivid ambiance.

Mieke's paintings often include an escape route, drawing viewers into an immersive experience within spatially dynamic creations. Working in thematic series allows her to refine her technique and deepen visual narratives.

Mieke's goal is to engage viewers to step into her paintings, encouraging a momentary escape into a dreamlike world.
