Mieke Jonker, born in Vaassen in 1963 and residing in Gennep NL began her artistic journey as a goldsmith at Vakschool Schoonhoven from 1999 to 2003.

After viewing Rembrandt's portrait of Heasje van Cleyburgh in the Rijksmuseum of Amsterdam she only wanted to paint.

She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Arendonk, specializing in portrait/model in 2013 and earning a Specialization degree in 2016,

In her paintings she seeks to capture the quiet beauty of still interiors, Inviting the viewers to imagine themselves within the scene.

She uses vibrant colors and strong contrasts to define these scenes, Executed with a free and expressive touch.

As a Chinese saying goes "A good painting requires the eye, the hand and the heart"recognizing that true art is born from keen observation, skilled execution and heartfelt expression.
